…..A story

It started with a phone call…..

Jim had been admitted to hospital following a check up with his doctor.
No visitors for 48 hours.

All we really knew was that blood tests were abnormal – Jim had not been feeling too good recently.
Two days later, the news got worse.

Dark patches within the liver. Biopsies were being analysed. If this was liver cancer Jim was not in a good way.

We visited Pauline and explained the insurance covers that Jim had in place.

Medical cover for specialists, tests and medication.

Income Protection to replace his salary, in case he would be off work for a while.

Business Overheads cover to provide monthly cash flow for Jim’s business, to keep it operating whilst he could not be there.

Trauma cover to provide an immediate and significant lump sum of cash if this did turn out to be cancer.

Life Insurance that would go to his trust in the event that the worst case scenario played itself out.
It all ended after a 16 month period of joy and despair, happiness and sorrow, laughter and tears.

Jim did have cancer.

His doctors gave him 4 months but Jim was stronger than they thought, tougher and more bloody-minded than they believed.

He survived for 16 months. The work that we had done for him gave him and his family relief through the bad times and cash in the right hands when it was needed most.

We funded most of his medical bills, chemotherapy treatment and additional medicines. We provided money for the business so that it survived and has continued to do so under new management.

The trauma cover paid out within ten days of the diagnosis and a seven figure sum was directed to his business and his family trust.

For the time he was off work, there was cash flow into the business to pay the business overheads and also into his personal bank account to replace his income.

Now that he has left us, his trust, set up for Pauline and their children, has received all the life cover proceeds, sufficient to pay all remaining debts and provide significant and sufficient income for the family.

We were lucky in that Jim had time to say his goodbyes and his thank you,
That is what we do.
